Provided by a licensed clinician — licensure requires the completion of a master’s degree in counseling or a related field, completion of thousands of hours of supervised, post master’s clinical practice, successful completion of national exam, and ongoing completion of continuing education to maintain licensure.
Only offered in the state(s) in which the clinician is licensed
Provides a comprehensive and clinical approach to assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health diagnoses
Coaching (worldwide)
No requirements or formal training required to work as coach. Licensed clinicians are generally qualified to provide coaching services (though do not work in any therapeutic capacity when providing coaching services.)
Providers are able to work with clients regardless of location
Does not provide assessment, diagnosis, or treatment of mental health diagnoses
Focuses on action-oriented goal-setting and skill-building
